Collaboration aims to enhance educational opportunities for the next generation of aviation professionals
Johnstown, PA. – December 14, 2023 – Aerium, a pioneering force in aviation education, is proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Foundation, the world's largest pilot organization renowned for its nationally recognized and award-winning curriculum development. Together, Aerium and the AOPA Foundation are set to elevate Pennsylvania to new heights as a leader in implementing cutting-edge aviation education programs.
The AOPA Foundation, with its illustrious history and commitment to excellence, has developed a series of innovative curricula designed to inspire and educate the next generation of aviators. Aerium is excited to collaborate with the AOPA Foundation to introduce these curricula into school districts, Career and Technical Centers (CTCs), secondary, and post-secondary institutions across the state of Pennsylvania.
Glenn Ponas, Director of High School Outreach for the AOPA Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "This collaboration between Aerium and the AOPA Foundation is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering a passion for aviation among students. By integrating our proven curricula, we aim to empower the youth of Pennsylvania with the knowledge and skills needed to soar to new heights in the world of aviation. For the upcoming school year, this is the first time that Pennsylvania is leading the nation in new AOPA Foundation Curriculum applications, and it looks as though that trend will continue."
Dr. Larry Nulton, Chairman of Aerium, highlighted the significance of this initiative, saying, "Aerium is dedicated to providing unparalleled aviation education, and our partnership with the AOPA Foundation is a major step toward achieving that goal. We believe that Pennsylvania will serve as a beacon for the nation in shaping the future of aviation education."
In addition to implementing the AOPA Foundation curricula, Aerium is actively working on developing funding mechanisms, training personnel, and resources to offer training free of charge to students and schools. The organization is also in the process of becoming an Educational Improvement Organization under Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. This move aims to supplement aviation education by providing additional resources and opportunities for students.
